R&D Technician II (Biologics Sample Management)
Location: South San Francisco, CA - 100% Onsite Required
Contract: 6 Months - possible extension - Based on performance and business needs
Hourly Rate: $31-35/hr (individual medical benefits available at a cost)

Job Details:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated candidate to join our sample management team. The individual will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of biologics (proteins and cell lines) and compound research samples. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: sample check-in, fulfilling sample requests, maintaining inventory, and proper handling of all research samples. The successful candidate will work closely with supervisors and team members.
Responsibilities:
• Receive, check-in, and update information in inventory for the biological samples submitted by the scientist.
• Store and maintain inventory of compounds and biological samples in LIMS database
• Fulfill dispersal requests (Biologics and Compounds) in a timely manner.
• Weigh out compounds using an analytical balance, dissolve powders to prepare DMSO stock solutions, and manually pipette solutions as needed.
• Support DMPK screening by dispensing compounds using TECAN D300e
• Utilize sterile techniques to handle samples during re-aliquoting and vial labeling/transfer.
• Thaw, expand, bank cell lines (BSL-1, BSL-2) and quality control of cell line banks.
• Submit and send out cell line samples for testing for Discovery departments.
• Maintain traceability of all biological materials and associated data sets.
• Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and replenish consumables.
• Report lab and inventory issues to supervisor or appropriate party
Qualifications:
• BS/MS or equivalent degree in biological sciences with 3+ years of experience in a laboratory setting either in an academia or industry.
• Strong multi-tasking abilities to work in a fast-paced, customer focused, dynamic team environment
• Experience in working with automated storage systems and operating/programming various liquid handlers to facilitate sample processing is preferred
• Experience with inventory/request database systems for sample management is highly desirable
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is highly desirable
• Competent oral and written communication skills
• Self-motivated, deadline conscious, high degree of organization skill and attention to details; able to adapt to changing priorities and circumstances
• Ability to work in research labs and process biological samples is a strong plus
