Lead Engineer Mechanical (Statics)

We currently have an opportunity for a Lead Engineer Mechanical (Statics) role. This position is based in Sohar - Oman
 
Position title: Lead Engineer Mechanical (Statics)
Contract Duration: One year (extendable)
Work Schedule: 5 days a week (Not a rotational role)
Work Location: Sohar – Oman
 
Good to have experience in
Strong hands-on piping engineering experience.
Experience in piping stress analysis
Experience with statice equipment. (Ex. Pressure vessels, heat exchangers. Etc)
Experience in field engineering / site support
Experience in reviewing EPC contractor deliverables
 
Job purpose
Lead, develop & provide technical operability judgements on installed equipment & systems related with Mechanical Static engineering at company  Assets, acting as Senior subject Matter expert for the design & implementation of effective defect elimination of existing design faults as per engineering best practice in Mechanical  discipline through: (1)  Lead and provide robust technical judgement on modification / innovation proposals in accordance with project requirements, and other relevant standards and while ensuring safety and reliability and provides guidance to junior engineers, trainees, and teams, (2)  Execute the engineering Mechanical (Statics)  support services to define and specify the technical requirements and specifications as part of company assets requirements, and (3) Ensure the engineering deliverables generated by Contractor meet project requirement in term of technical content and follow project procedures such as engineering plan, quality plan, document numbering, level of approval, Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by contractors; in order to ensure goals, objectives and all elements of the project are accomplished within budget, time and quality

Company Assets (SR/AP, MAF, Plastics & NGLE)
 
Lead Static Engineer should be able to guide the technical team and shall be well versed in Design, fabrication and troubleshooting of all Static Equipment includes Piping as follows:
Pressure vessels, (drums, columns, reactors, filters)
Heat exchangers (shell and tubes, plate and frame, air coolers). 
Columns:  used to separate crude oil and other feedstocks into different fractions and are operated under high temperatures and pressures from which is required a careful design to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Storage tanks,
Fired Heaters,
Pig launchers
Furnaces: to heat process streams to high temperatures. To heat crude oil and other feedstocks before they enter the distillation columns / Reactor.
Piping System: Expert in design, Fabrication, Stress analysis of Plant piping system (Hydrocarbon /steam/ Utility)
 

Education requirements   
The minimum qualification for this position is a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
 
8-10 years of experience in relevant position
Mechanical Engineer role within the Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical industry.
Well versed on the latest International Code & Standards related to   Mechanical Engineering (Static and Piping)
Knowledge of Engineering Software like PV Elite/ Caesar-II /AutoCAD for   Mechanical Engineer
Familiarity with FCC/Hydrocracker/NHT Reactor and Internals
Good knowledge in Quality Assurance, Quality Control and HSE plans.
Familiar with techniques for ensuring data integrity with various integration of information/ reports.
Knowledge of engineering drawing/procedure review, developing technical specification and engineering evaluation report
Experience in handling FEED/EPC Contracts 
HSE (Permit to Work – PTW, Process Safety, H2S Awareness, Basic Fire Fighting, Emergency Response)
Experience and well versed in field investigation, inspections, troubleshooting, performance checks, data compilation, etc.
Understanding of Process Plant (P& ID / PFD) & Engineering drawings and OEM manuals.
